Peace Within, Peace Without: A Spiritual Approach to Global Conflict

In times of deep division — from political protests to international wars — our nervous systems and spiritual centers are under pressure. But instead of becoming consumed by conflict, what if we became transmitters of healing?

This week’s sermon at the Church of New Enchantment is a reminder that peace begins within, and that spiritual practice is not a passive response — it is an active medicine for a hurting world.

We draw from multiple traditions in this message:

• Christian Gnosticism teaches that peace is part of our inner divine spark, and awakening to that truth is how we affect the outer world.

• Buddhism speaks of “inner stillness as the highest form of wisdom.”

• The Bhagavad Gita reminds us that “One who has conquered the mind is tranquil in cold, heat, pleasure, and pain.”

• Wiccan belief embraces harmony with nature, using the Earth’s gifts like herbs and crystals for spiritual and energetic healing.

Key herbs discussed:

• Tulsi (Holy Basil): Sacred in Ayurveda and Hinduism, known to calm and uplift the heart.

• Lemon Balm: A gentle soother for anxiety and nervous tension.

• Passionflower: For dream work, rest, and emotional release.

Key crystals:

• Amethyst: Calms emotional storms and opens spiritual insight.

• Blue Lace Agate: Encourages soft, effective communication and compassion.

Practice tip:

Burn lavender or sandalwood during meditation. Chant “Om Shanti” (peace mantra) to send vibrational healing to the planet.

Simple Daily Ritual:

Each morning, light a candle. Place a hand on your chest. Say:

“I am the eye of the storm. I am the peace the world needs.”
